Album 1, Leaf 36

This large-format red-chalk drawing was pasted crosswise into the album due to its format. It shows the richly decorated base of a candelabra from the courtyard of the Palazzo Lante, at Via Monterone 70 in Rome. Construction on the palazzo probably commenced in 1513, to designs by Giuliano da Sangallo (c. 1445–1516) by order of Pope Leo X (1513–1521).
