Like the drawing pasted on the previous album leaf, this finely executed sheet is also by the hand of the French professional draughtsman of ornament designs Nicolas François Daniel Lhuillier (c. 1736–1793). Rather than depicting the top of a column – a capital – this drawing instead shows a richly decorated column base. It comes from the baptistery of the Lateran Basilica, the cathedral of the diocese of Rome in the centre of the city.
