Sketch of a longish pillar with clawed feet and herm decoration

The pillar is outlined here in just a few strokes. While the outlines are comparatively detailed as far as the architectural elements are concerned, the head and the feet are only cursorily sketched out. The motif is reminiscent of the kind of fireplace jamb found in Piranesi’s ornament prints. The design bears no relation whatsoever to the recto. The front and back of the sheet were thus apparently put to separate use within the workshop.
