This sheet is like a page from a product catalogue containing a choice of elaborately decorated ship’s rams. The protruding spikes were intended to ram enemy vessels. Dolphins, mermaids, and all manner of sea creatures seem to declare dominion over the sea. The Baroque-like motifs show surprising similarities with depictions by other artists.
