Album 1, Leaf 21

While being pasted into the album, two of the drawings were rotated in different directions to save space. Of particular interest is the depiction of a vase assembled in Piranesi’s workshop from fragments of antique and modern marble and featuring spreading vines. The object has survived in two separate parts: the vase belongs to the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the base to the Museo Pio-Clementino in Rome.
