Album 1, Leaf 15

The upper frieze featuring the bearded figure between two horned and winged lions was already depicted in a drawing on leaf 3 of this album. The frieze represented here originally adorned the Domus Flavia, a magnificent palace on the Palatine in Rome, built under Emperor Domitian and completed in 92 AD. Several remains from the building have survived.
