Album 2, Leaf 30

The large sheet pasted in on this leaf was larger than the dimensions of the album, so that initially all one sees is one half of the verso. Unfolding the sheet, however, reveals the design for a rhyton, which was indeed produced as a three-dimensional object in Piranesi’s workshop from a combination of antique and modern material.
