Album 1, Rear Cover

The bindings show typical signs of use. The corners and edges of the covers are bumped, there are patches of abrasion to the leather, and scrape marks are visible on the cover papers surrounding the backing boards. All these signs of wear occurred prior to the album’s accession to the museum collection, and were probably the result of sliding the album off a shelf or over a tabletop.
